Enter Chili Cook off Contest Youth and Adult Divisions
Bremer County Fair Chili Cook-off Official Rules and Regulations
1. Entry forms can be picked up at the fair board office and must be returned no later than 3:00 pm on contest day. Registration for contest is from 2:00 – 3:00 pm on Saturday Aug. 6, 2011.
2. Each participant is asked to provide at least 1 GALLON of chili for judging.
3. Chili is to consist of any kind of meat, beans, vegetables, or combinations thereof, cooked with chili peppers, spices and other ingredients. If you’d like, please provide a recipe for your chili entry or display it at your table.
4. Fairboard/Cook-off coordinators will be at there to assist with check-in and space allocation-first come first serve.
5. Chili can be prepared at home or bring your ingredients and cook it at the fair. Electricity will be provided to keep the chili warm, but you must provide the crock pot or hot plate.
6. Please bring your own extension cords.
7. Cook-off coordinators will provide bowls and spoons for serving chili to judges and the public.
8. During check-in, each entrant will be asked to sign a receipt for an assigned number that will be your entry number.
9. Judging will begin promptly at 3:00 with the public taste and vote to follow. Cash prizes awarded to the judges top 3 entries, and the people’s choice award(Golden Ladle).
10. Judges will select a winning chili based on 5 criteria: Color, Aroma, Consistency, Taste, and Aftertaste. Prize winners will be announced following the contest at or around 4:00 pm. You must be present to win. The judges’ decision is final.
11. The Golden Ladle Award is determined by the public. It is up to you to entice them to try your chili and cast their vote for you.
12. It is the responsibility of the entrants to see that their area is kept clean and safe.
13. Bremer County Fairboard will not be responsible for any accidents, theft, or mishaps.
