Country Star Jack Ingram to Headline Fair - Jack Ingram Concert Radio Spot - Listen Now!

WAVERLY, IOWA – On Friday, August 7, country star Jack Ingram will perform on the concert stage at the Bremer County Fair.  The traditional Friday night Scrambles have been moved to Thursday this year to allow for the concert.  Last year marked the first major concert in almost 30 years and was well received by fairgoers.

Ingram, with special guest country band “Outlaw Junkies” will perform at 7:30 p.m.   A Texas native, Ingram’s first album on the Big Machine label “Wherever You Are” saw the title track reach number 1 on country radio.  He has also had hits with “Love You”, “Measure of a Man”, “Maybe She’ll Get Lonely”, and “That’s a Man”.  His current single “Barefoot and Crazy” is quickly climbing up the country charts. 

In 2008, Ingram was awarded the Academy of Country Music’s New Male Vocalist of the Year.  He recently appeared in the special “George Strait: Artist of the Decade Concert” where he sang Strait’s classic hit “All My Ex’s Live in Texas”.

All seating for the concert will be general admission.  Tickets are $15 in advance, $17 the day of the show and are on sale now.  Seating is limited!  Tickets are available online at www.ticketmaster.com, at all Ticketmaster outlets including select Hy Vee Food Stores.  To charge tickets by phone, call (800) 745-3000.

Bean Bag Tournament!

The Bremer County Fair is proud to announce the addition of a Bean Bag Tournament this year. It will be held on Saturday August 8th, 2009 near the beer garden tent. A registration fee for a 2-person team is $20.00 with a 50% pay back.

Registration will be from 10:00-11:00am with the tournament starting promptly at 11:30am. The first 32 teams will be eligible to play. All points count, no cancellations. The first team to reach 21 points must win by at least 2 points.

Best 2 out of 3 games wins. This is a double elimination bracket. So mark this on your calendar for a fun time at the far!

New Event - Ever heard of a skid loader rodeo?

Monday August 3th, 2009

The Skid Loader Rodeo is an obstacle course challenge- an event of skill and speed. There will be classes for ages 14-18 and 19 on up for both men and women. There will also be a contractor’s class for professionals.

Red Neck Rodeo will be for 4-H and FFA Members. This requires a pick up truck and a 3-person team. Each team will have to load 25 bales of hay onto the truck, drive through cones, and unload the bales and stack them in a nice orderly fashion. Speed and Skill will also win this competition.

Kid Loader Rodeo will be for kids 5 and 6 years of age, (3 kids on a team.) Each member has to fill a little bucket with dirt using a shovel, run to a little red wagon and dump the dirt. They will have to pull the wagon to a designated spot and dump the load. This to will be a timed event.

June 12, 2009 - Fair Queen Application now available!

May 31, 2009 - Iowa State Fair Quilt Block Design- Deadline Aug. 15th
The Bremer County Extension is asking for your help in finding the right quilt block for the Iowa State Fair multi-use facility to be completed in 2010. With the success of the Barn Quilt projects from several Iowa communities comes the idea of gathering quilt block designs to be displayed on the exterior of the new structure.

The Iowa State Fair would like all the counties be represented and ask that you help support this project in your county. Those interested in submitting a design may do so by following the guidelines below and submitting them to:

Between 4-H, FFA and open shows, the 2008 fair schedule is full of many judging and showing events.

One of the main reasons for holding the Bremer County Fair is to showcase the work of the young people in our community.
The Bremer County Fair National Tractor Pullers Association (NTPA) pull has grown over the years to the point of now being one of the premier pulls in Northeast Iowa.

The Bremer County Fair NTPA Pull offers 5 classes - Super Farm Tractors, 4-wheel drive trucks, Modifieds, 2-wheel drive trucks, and the heavy Super Stock Tractors. (SFT, FWD, MOD, TWD, HVY SS)
This year the Bremer County Fair Association has again contracted Superior Equipment from Clarence, Iowa to provide the midway for fair 2008.

Look for even more rides and attraction at the 2008 Bremer County Fair!
